HEDGES AND TREES OVERHANGING THE HIGHWAY (INCLUDING FOOTPATHS AND PAVEMENTS)

The
Cheshire West and Cheshire Area Highways teams regularly receive complaints about hedges and trees on private property that have been allowed to overhang the highway.  This makes life difficult for pedestrians, particularly those walking with children/with a pushchair, walking with a walking stick or in a wheelchair, who are forced to walk on the verge or in the road to get past the vegetation.  Overgrowth of rural hedges can obstruct visibility at junctions and on bends, increasing the risk of accidents.

Now that the bird nesting season is over we’re asking everyone to look at the hedges and trees on their property and check that they have not encroached onto the footway or carriageway.  If they have, can owners please put some time aside to cut them back – and take into account a bit of ‘growing’ room for next year.

Following the recent elections, Kingsley Parish Council has 2 vacancies for Parish Councillor which we are now seeking to fill.

  • Would you like to make a positive contribution in caring for and improving your village….?
  • Would you like to help play a role in shaping the future of your village….?
  • Would you like to help set local priorities and influence local decision making…?
  • Would you like to have direct input to help resolve local concerns….?

If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of these questions then you might want to consider joining your Parish Council.
