Council declares a Climate Emergency

On 21 May 2019, Cheshire West and Chester Council declared that the borough is in a Climate Emergency and that the Council, alongside residents, community groups and businesses, need to take action to help tackle the issue.

First Climate Emergency Taskforce meet

In response to the Climate Emergency declaration, the Council has established a cross-party taskforce. One of the first tasks for the group will be to determine the earliest date that the Council, and the borough as a whole, can be carbon neutral before 2045. Specific targets and a strategy for how we do this will be set out over the next 12 months following a baselining exercise to review the area’s current emissions and a Climate Emergency Summit.
