  1. Police have taken a number of reports this week about thefts from vehicles overnight. The offences have occurred in the corridor of villages including Rowton, Waverton, Christleton, Littleton and Guilden Sutton. Targeted vehicles have often been left insecure and on driveways, with small amounts of change being taken from centre consoles. There have also been reports from the same locations about prowlers during the night, opening garden gates. An old Landrover Discovery has been stolen and an old style gents racing bike has been found in someones garden – this same bike was subsequently taken again a day later! I would strongly urge all residents in this area to ensure that they lock their vehicles, do not leave anything of value inside and report any suspicious activity to the police straight away. Local officers are already targeting the area to try to catch the offender. Their best chance is for any residents who see something suspicious, to report it immediately and to pass as detailed a description as possible. Due to the location and proximity of these incidents, it is quite likely that the offender is travelling around on foot or pedal cycle.
  2. At the beginning of the week, police took 3 reports about outbuildings being broken into, or suspicious vehicles driving up private drives at isolated properties just off the A41 between Broxton and Whitchurch. An empty house was also broken into near Burwardsley. The nature of the stolen property and location of the addresses indicates that the offender is using a vehicle. If you see any vehicle approaching isolated addresses, which is out of the ordinary, please try to obtain the vehicle registration and pass it on to the police.
  3. On Tuesday, Local officers executed a search warrant at an address in Little Budworth. A large and sophisticated Cannabis Farm was found in a barn containing approx. 1750 cannabis plants at various stages of growth, with an estimated street value of £1,000,000. Two people were arrested at the scene. Not linked to this warrant, but pertinent to the topic, Officers have detained and prosecuted several people across the whole neighbourhood policing area this week, for possession of cannabis or other controlled drugs. Combatting drug related crime remains a constant priority for local officers. If you have any information that may assist combatting this toxic blight on our society, please contact the police (anonymously if you like) – all information received is assessed and acted upon!
  4. There have been reports this week from both Frodsham and Cuddington, about doorstep callers, purporting to be deaf and dumb, selling drawings. Not only is doorstep selling without the correct license illegal, but there is a suggestion that this particular activity may be linked to distraction burglaries across a wide area. If you have any such callers, please call the police straight away and try to keep an eye on where they go, so that patrols can be directed when they arrive in the area.
  5. There have been other burglaries of outbuildings in Tarvin and Balderton. At one of these incidents, an old red Citroen Saxo was seen to drive away. Please be mindful if you see such a vehicle on private property without good reason and contact the police as soon as possible.
  6. Local officers are making increasing use of Twitter to pass out information which may be of use or interest to residents – for example, if a suspicious vehicle is sighted, a Tweet may be posted describing the vehicle and its location. This information can be put out within minutes and as such, can be very useful to residents, should there be some illegal activity going on in their area at the time. If you have a Twitter account, please follow us on WesternRuralPolice@WesternRuralNPU.
