PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM CAR THIEVES:
Don’t leave valuables such as CDs, pen drives, sat nav systems, laptops, handbags and mobile phones on show - even if you think an item isn’t of any particular value, someone else might think differently.
Don’t leave coats or clothing visible. Their pockets may be empty but someone looking through the window won’t know that.
Make sure your car is locked and all windows, doors, boot and sunroof are closed properly.
Activate all security devices, alarms, immobilisers, etc. when left unattended.
Always park your car in a safe, well lit place.
If you can leave your valuables at home.
If not take them with you whilst walking in the Forest.

Jo, a local farmer, has offered the following advice with regards hedge cutting season:
It's that time of year when farmers and the council are cutting roadside hedges , so can people please be very careful when they see tractors doing this job as it's possible for pieces of hedge or debris to come flying out at very high speed; please pass by sensibly in cars/on motorbikes as normal and please don't come near them if on foot on bicylce or horseback, until the tractor driver has noticed you and switched off/slowed down. We are always on the lookout for other approaching road users but our attention will be on controlling the machinery and therefore we may not spot you straight away. Thank you.
