Fake emails and text messages are a common tactic used by cyber criminals, their goal is often to convince you to click a link. Once clicked, you may be sent to a dodgy website which could download viruses onto your computer, or steal your passwords and personal information. In order to try and convince you that their messages are legitimate, criminals will pretend to be someone you trust, or from some organisation you trust. This could be your Internet Service Provider (ISP), local council, even a friend in need. And they may contact you by phone call, email or text message. Reporting suspicious emails: If you have received an email which you’re not quite sure about, you can report it by forwarding the email to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. As of 31st October 2021, the number of suspicious email reports stands at more than 8,100,000, with the removal of more than 67,000 scams and 124,000 URLs. Thank you for your continued support. *In a small number of cases, an email may not reach our service due to it already being widely recognised by spam detection services. The vast majority of reports do reach our system so please keep reporting any suspicious emails you receive. Reporting suspicious text messages: You can report suspicious text messages to your mobile network provider, for free, by forwarding the text to 7726. If you forward a text, your provider can investigate the origin of the text and take action, if found to be malicious. If 7726 doesn’t work, you can find out how to report a text message by contacting your provider. Please see the latest development update from Torus Homes with regards the Higher Heyes development. It appears that the positions of some of the dwellings is slightly different to the approved positions and, as such, the developer has been advised by Cheshire West & Chester planning department that this would need to be considered under a new planning application.

New Bin Collection Service

Further to the survey earlier in the year Cheshire West & Cheshire have announced the start of the contentious new bin collections.

Summary:
- As a result of the changes, Cheshire West Recycling will be removing three domestic rounds from its existing schedule.
- Some 60 per cent of all properties will receive a new collection day or week rotation. These will cover bin collection rounds in all areas of the borough. It is anticipated that these service changes will start from 11 October 2021.
- On Monday 30 August Cheshire Waste Recycling will start to attach ‘bin tags’ to all residents’ waste containers in the borough. The bin tags will raise awareness and alert residents of the borough to the changes and the fact that they will be receiving a new bin collection day calendar. These will be placed on all domestic bins during one collection cycle. The tags will include the message: “We’re making some day changes, look out for your new collection calendar”.
- Delivery of the tags and letters will be delivered to residents between Monday 30 August and Friday 10 September. Householders with a bag collection will receive the information by letter. The changes will also be communicated through the Council’s website and social media channels. Closer to the time of the service change, residents will then be sent a new printed bin collection calendar advising them of the changes to their collection day, along with extra information about the annual suspension of the garden waste collection service and collection arrangements during the festive period.
- It is anticipated that delivery of the calendars to households will start from Monday, 20 September 2021.
