The Royal Mail has published the dates strike action is expected to take place, and information around them.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take further national strike action on the following dates:
- Friday 30 September 2022 and Saturday 1 October 2022
- Thursday 13 October 2022
- Thursday 20 October 2022
- Tuesday 25 October 2022
- Monday 28 November 2022
Further dates have also been announced by the CWU for functional strike action which impacts parts of our operation on the following:

Processing, Distribution, International, Collections, Admin: 3, 9, 15, 24 November and 1 December 2022

Delivery: 4, 10, 16, 25 November and 2 December 2022

Network: 2, 8, 14, 23, 30 November 2022

The March meeting of Kingsley Garden Club will take place on Monday 14th at 8 .00 in the Community Centre. The speaker will be Steve Halliwell, his topic: From The Hornbeam to The Pocket Handkerchief Tree. This illustrated talk will be a celebration of trees, looking at them in their natural habitat together with the things that make a woodland a woodland, like the succession of different flowers.
March is a busy month in the garden, with lots to do in preparation for a productive and colourful summer:-
Finish pruning roses
Later in the month prune buddlejas and hydrangeas
Split large clumps of snowdrops and divide large plants of perennials such as astrantia, phlox and grasses.
Plant onion sets, shallots, broad beans and early potatoes if the ground is not too cold and wet.

The Lovell Quinta Arboretum…spring bulbs in the woodland
Stoneyford Cottage Garden and Nursery
There are 2 Plant Hunters Fairs , Ness Botanic Garden on March 20th and Arley Hall and Gardens on 27th.
We look forward to seeing members and friends on the 14th.

I am sorry to announce that Anne Kavanagh is resigning from her role of leading the Kingsley Youth Group.
Anne Kavanagh and Charlie Shelton have been the soul of KYG and they deserve no end of thanks for enabling so many young people to benefit from their enthusiasm and skills. It has been a genuine pleasure working with them over the years with many enjoyable times. It must be very hard for Anne to give it up after all she put in but, as has been said, the effort her and Charlie put in did a lot of good for a lot of people over a long period.
The main reason for Anne resigning is that we have tried for nearly two years now to recruit qualified Youth Workers with no success. COVID was obviously a major factor but as the danger recedes (we hope!) there is no sign of anyone volunteering despite numerous appeals.
We would make a final appeal for someone from the Kingsley community to take Anne’s place. Please contact John Carson on 07967 482992 if you are interested. If we cannot get a replacement by the end of February the intention is for myself and the Board of Trustees to also resign and wind up Kingsley Youth Group on 31st March 2022.
If that is the case then I would like to thank the Board of Trustees for their support and also the many people in Kingsley who helped fund the Group through various events such as the Summer Ball, the Gin tasting and the Fete (special thanks to the Red Bull and it’s many helpers) and others.
Hopefully the Youth Club will re-surface in a different form in the future.
